This is very informative. I have never knew exactly how the Saudi leadership works. It seems to me that the tribal and clerics have a great set of checks and balances to keep a king in check.

You made an excellent point. Arab societies, particularly those in the Gulf, have always had a covenant between the king and its subjects.

When the king breaks that covenant, there is no place for that king in the tent.

If MBS goes, so will the American influence. NO MBS, no America in the Middle East. NO America in the Middle East, Israel becomes a nuclear-armed mouse in the region. What then?

mitraraheb's avatar

In many ways, you're right.

You have to understand the war between Iran and Israel the US was never really about these 3; but rather, the arrival of an Asiatic global order. Which would shift the power in this region from the western eurocentric system to eastern asiatic structure.

The pendulum of power is already swinging from west to east.

I’d say it’s the opposite, if US influence goes so will the house of Saud.

mitraraheb's avatar

In both cases the influence has gone

Great article. MBS got too big for his britches. The elders and the oman reign supreme. The trump family will make them lose everything

Thank you for your report. I've been very curious about MBS control after this fiasco of alliance with the Trump family. I hope he's removed and that every deal made with this curupt family is dissolved.

Question. Is this why the announcement of the Saudis no longer funding LIV golf?

mitraraheb's avatar

Partially, yes, and partially because the king has no more money per se.

The House of Saud hid in Yemen while the other Arab tribes fought to liberate their land. They then came out of hiding and took over. I would be surprised if Mi6 wasn't involved in this...

How was MBS strong support, even outright urging for Trump to attack Iran (Shias) received on the street in KSA (Sunni)? Was there initial support for MBS from the tribal people in the millennial war between Sunni & Shia Islam? Or was there immediate anger that UsIsrael had attacked another Muslim country & MBS should have stayed out of it. There's no doubt that all the GCC are now cursing the catastrophe of letting the USA use their land for bases to attack a powerful neighbor ... but just a bit too late don't you think?

I call bullshit.

Seems fabricated especially after reading your other piece. Same values, same trope that is AI polished.

Makes me question your profile. What do you want to achieve with this type of BS?
